VOX 21: Competition Winners26 September 2014
It was great to meet the talented young people behind the entries and we really want to thank ALL of the amazing young people who entered. Your talent and creativity have helped make this a very special year for Olivia's family.
Overall, the competition was very close and any one of the finalist could have finished in the top three. The great thing for us has been the sheer variety of entries. We have had everything from painting to music, writing, film, and fashion.
The overall winner of the competition was Ollie Bradley–Baker from West Kirby who entered a thought-provoking short film called 'Echolalia'.
The film is a comment on the empty and disconnected nature of communication in the modern world and the theme really hit the spot in terms for this competition.
The second prize went to Megan Williams for an amazing fashion statement which she called 'If You Obey All The Rules, You Miss All The Fun'. Megan has somehow managed to create a truly stunning dress using mainly black bags!
In third place was a moving short story simply titled ‘I’ by Clare Walker of Moreton. The story beautifully expresses the personal dreams and emotional isolation of a young person amidst the drudgery of daily life.
Runner-up prizes in this year's competition were awarded to: Joseph Flanagan, Edward Saunders, Joseph Loftus and Charlotte Wealthy.
Through its fundraising and grant making the Olivia Rae Foundation aims to support young people on Merseyside in achieving their aspirations through Education and the Arts.
